During and after your abortion, most women feel cramping similar to menstrual cramps. Patients tell us expelling the pregnancy is like having a difficult period.

Patients will be given post-abortion self-care instructions. We recommend patients take an over the counter pain medication for cramping as needed.

Patients may take an at home pregnancy test 4 weeks after taking the medication.

You can get pregnant right away after an abortion so resume birth control within one week.
